my experience

Hey there! I’m so glad you found me here. If you’re like me you believe in love and devotion. You also believe in the value of hard work, celebrating accomplishments and taking time off. You do your best to find the silver lining when things don’t go as planned.

Unfortunately, life throws curveballs.

Sometimes they make a direct hit. Hard.

Maybe it’s something that happened in your past. Maybe it’s a break-up, a miscarriage, there’s trouble in your relationships, or problems at work.

Maybe it’s a diagnosis like anxiety or depression.

You pull out all the tricks from your hat- you smile, workout, do yoga, sleep, cry, recite positive affirmations- still, nothing’s working.

That curveball keeps demanding your attention.

You want to get on with your life. You want to feel happier, stronger and genuinely- not just reciting an affirmation- positive.

I’m  Julie   Schmit

I’m a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I’m also a graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, a former massage therapist, a yoga instructor since 1991 and I teach anatomy in yoga teacher training programs.

I believe that the body and mind are a powerful duo in the creation of a life full of love, inspiration, and celebration.

As a psychotherapist trained in Western thought, I additionally value Eastern, body-centric healing methods like yoga and energy healing.

In our work together, we will explore the major stressors in your life, your belief systems, health history, your childhood and other issues and how they impact your well-being.

We will also incorporate the body by using simple, fully clothed, non-invasive, body and energy sensing exercises that you do on yourself. I do not touch your body. I am available to be your guide, your committed listener and your mirror in this process.

I specialize in working with:

  • Relationship problems
  • Sexual problems
  • Healing trauma
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
